Kindergarten Tools: A Kindergarten Expedition into Tools and Their Uses

In the kindergarten Tool Expedition, students learned to identify tools and their uses, and in a broader context learned more about the wider world through the study of tools. Tools were introduced to students as something that everyone uses at his or her job, whether they are a secretary, a janitor, a plumber, a teacher or a cook. Students interviewed members of the school community and broader community to find out what tools they used. Tools became a lens and entry point for students to understand professions and to meet adults in their world.
