This institute is designed with the purpose of developing an initial understanding of the Expeditionary Learning model, tailored specifically to the grade levels as noted in each session’s title. Sessions focus on learning expeditions and related power practices, specifically literacy workshops and other lesson models. Participants experience and debrief a “slice” of a science or humanities learning expedition with a focus on active instructional practices that develop and nurture a safe and collaborative classroom culture. Strategic school structures such as crew and flexible classroom groupings are modeled throughout these institutes.
