Student from Delaware Academy learn about real-life economics through community service.

Second graders at Delaware Academy in Syracuse did more than just learn about how grocery stores and local merchants work. They created their own products (chocolate lollipops, greeting cards, and a spice rub) and sold those products to raise nearly eight-hundred dollars. 

Then, looking around their community for those in need, the students of Delaware Academy donated all that money to a local pantry called "Bread of Life." In additon, the students walked from their school on Wednesdays to hand out fruit at the pantry during lunch hours.

Students from Integrated Arts and Technology High School tackle neighborhood improvement

Thirteen-year-old Emonie Mateo dug her shovel into the dirt and tossed a few daffodil bulbs into the planter.

Classmates around her raked leaves and picked up litter off the stretch of Hudson Avenue near their school, Integrated Arts and Technology High School.
