World of Inquiry is named a "Blue Ribbon" School by US Secretary of Education Arne Duncan

ROCHESTER, NY (WXXI) - A local school is getting a national award recognizing the nation's top performing learning institutions.

The World of Inquiry School No. 58 has been named a "Blue Ribbon School" by U-S Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.

Blue Ribbon schools are committed to student achievement, and to ensuring students learn and succeed, according to Duncan.

Superintendent Jean-Claude Brizard issued a statement saying the district is very proud of the students, staff and families of the World of Inquiry School.

It's one of 304 public and private schools to get the distinction.

And its the only urban school in the state outside of New York City to be named a "Blue Ribbon School."
